Two new principals named at Spencerport schools
Dan Milgate, assistant principal at Spencerport High School, has been appointed principal of the new elementary school, and Todd Yunker, assistant principal for Munn and Bernabi Elementary Schools, has been named the new principal of Munn School. The Spencerport Board of Education approved the appointments at its March 12 meeting.
Milgate, who has an extensive background in business, came into the district seven years ago as the School-to-Career coordinator and a business teacher. He is now in his fourth year as high school assistant principal. Milgate holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from SUNY Brockport. He received his master's in business and distributive education at Nazareth and his school district administration degree at Brockport. Milgate lives with his wife and two children in Greece.
While at the high school, Milgate was the driving force behind the development of the CORE Development Room, a career resource room for students, according to district officials. As with other projects, he developed community and business connections that provided the funding for the room.
Yunker will begin his position on July 1, with Interim Principal Donna Hofsess finishing the school year. Yunker has been with the Spencerport School District since August 2000 as assistant principal at the two elementary schools. He had previously spent seven years at Churchville-Chili. Yunker received his bachelor's degree in elementary education and a master's in reading at SUNY Geneseo. He received his administrative certification at SUNY Brockport. Yunker lives in Chili with his wife and three children.
