for Hilton's unique book club Hilton's Northwood Elementary School's after-school parent-child book dis-cussion club, FIRST, (Families Invited to Read and Share Together) was started by parent Dorothy Distefano, right, to support and encourage family reading and literacy skills. Since its inception, more than 100 parents and children have read and discussed common books together in a friendly and inviting atmosphere at the school's library including, from left, students Cameron Peerenboom, Matthew Zachary and his mom, Cathi Zachary. FIRST has been featured on national parent-teacher and education web sites: www.ptotoday.com and www.educationworld.com/ FIRST has also been the recipient of a $500 ExxonMobil Foundation grant to help purchase books and supplies.
