Grants fund purchases
Hilton's Village Elementary School is in the process of spending a $7,500 National Science Foundation grant earned by teacher Beverly Thompson last year. From left, students, Marissa Pelligrini, Grace McIntosh, Jake Falcheck, Brian Duffy, Ricky Bower, and Seth Bachmann inspect some of the simple machine models including pulleys, gears, inclined planes, levers in studying work, force and energy. Other equipment purchases were: a stereo microscope and slides; biological models; and land form demonstration kit. Thompson was awarded a National Science Foundation Presidential Award for Excellence in Science. The Village Elementary School will be involved in using the equipment as it prepares for its annual Science Fair to be held Friday, April 5, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the school on 100 School Lane, Hilton.
