Holley sixth-graders recently had the opportunity to practice their math skills and help out children less fortunate than themselves at the same time. Students raised over $1,700 by participating in the Math-A-Thon, an educationally based fundraiser for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in which students obtain sponsors for the number of math problems completed in special workbooks provided for them.

"We are very proud of our students for working so hard on the Math-A-Thon," said Addy Gondoli, sixth-grade teacher. "With their help, St. Jude Hospital will be able to create new treatments that may one day lead to a cure for many forms of cancer." Mrs. Gondoli and the Math-A-Thon participants also extend their thanks to the Holley community for supporting the fundraiser. "It takes all of us to make a difference in the lives of children with cancer and we can all feel proud of our response," Gondoli said.
