Pop Your Top for Lakeside is Twig group's fundraiser
Thanks to the innovation of community members, the Lakeside Memorial Hospital Twig Association has found a way to support the Lakeside Health System that is even globally responsible.
The "Pop Your Top for Lakeside" drive encourages people to save their pop and beer can tabs to be recycled in an ongoing campaign. The collected aluminum tabs can be dropped off by contacting Cora Maskell at 395-6049 or Barb Windus at 637-4375.
"This would be a great project for schools, youth groups, scouts or other groups looking for a way to serve their community," said Cora Maskell, first vice president of the Twig Association.
The Twig Association has a long history of supporting Lakeside through their fundraising efforts. Funds donated in the past have been used to purchase medical equipment. In 2001, their generosity made possible the purchase of digital baby scales, bedside stands for patients, oxygen flow meters, chairs, tape recorders for nursing home residents' use and many other items.
Scholarships are also awarded annually to students seeking to pursue a career in the healthcare field.
