Andrew Meyers of Churchville won the second place award in the Freshman Men's category during a statewide singing competition held at Grand Valley State University.

Meyers is a student at Hope College, Holland, Michigan.


Nikki Campbell has been appointed as Medicaid Service Coordinator for Easter Seals New York - Western Region, responsible for assisting individuals and their families with accessing and utilizing resources available to them, based on their needs.

Prior to her new position, Campbell served as a Residential Habilitation Provider for Easter Seals which provides a wide array of clinical/medical service to adults and children with developmental disabilities. Previous associations prior to Easter Seals include: Lifetime Assistance, Inc., ARC-Orleans County, and Stepping Stones Learning Center.

She holds a bachelor of science degree in psychology from SUNY Brockport and is a native of the Kendall area.


David Hossenlopp of Spencerport has been named to the dean's list for the winter quarter at Rochester Institute of Technology. A first year student in the Kate Gleason College of Engineering, Hossenlopp is studying mechanical engineering. He is the son of James and Roberta Hossenlopp of Spencerport and is a 2001 graduate of Spencerport High School.

Jeremy Michael Monnat of Rochester achieved the dean's list at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia for the winter quarter, 2002. Monnat is a computer art major and is the son of Jeremy Monnat and Christine Monnat of Rochester.

Meghan Diane Byrnes of Rochester. Byrnes is an undecided major and is the daughter of Kevin Byrnes of Rochester.

Ross Edward Campbell of Fairport. Campbell is a sequential art major and is the son of James Campbell and Melodye Campbell of Fairport.

David John Gaudio of Fairport. Gaudio is a graphic design major.

The student earned a minimum grade point average of 3.25, carrying a minimum of six credits to receive the dean's list designation.


The United States Achievement Academy has announced William Cuthbert, of Chili, has been named a United States National Award Winner in mathematics. Cuthbert, who attends Churchville-Chili High School, was nominated for this national award by Mrs. Moran, a mathematics teacher at the school.

His name will appear in the United States Achievement Academy Official Yearbook, which is published nationally.

Cuthbert is the son of Cindy and Jim Cuthbert of Chili.

Michelle Christine Liang of Rochester was named to the dean's list for the fall 2001 semester at The Johns Hopkins University.

She is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Cheng-Seng Liang and attended Brighton High School in Rochester. Liang, who is majoring in biology, is expected to graduate in May 2005


Ty W. Dobbertin of Churchville was named to the dean's list for the fall 2001 semester at The Johns Hopkins University.

He is the son of David and Mary Lou Dobbertin and attended Brockport High School in Brockport.

Dobbertin, who is majoring in computer science, is expected to graduate in May 2005.


Emily Ruth Caton of Spencerport was named to the dean's list for the fall 2001 semester at The Johns Hopkins University.

She is the daughter of Scott and Bonnie Caton and attended Ellsworth J. Wilson High School in Spencerport.

Caton, who is majoring in an arts and sciences pre-major, is expected to graduate in May 2005.


Thomas Paolini, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel T. Paolini of Rochester, and a student at Hamilton College, recently began the 2002 spring season as a member of the Hamilton golf team.

Paolini, a junior majoring in government at Hamilton, is a graduate of Choate Rosemary Hall.


Air Force Airman 1st Class Giles G. Crosier has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and customs; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training and special training in human relations.

He is the son of Nelson Crosier of Holley, and grandson of Jack Sankel of Brockport.

Crosier is a 1998 graduate of Brockport High School.


Air Force Airman Zachary J. Viterna has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and customs; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training and special training in human relations.

Viterna is the son of Joseph Viterna Jr. of Hilton.

He is a 2000 graduate of Hilton High School.


Army PFC Jason Johansen has graduated from Army basic training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, South Carolina. He is currently at AIT for Military Music School in Norfolk, Virginia.

Johansen is the son of Garland and Susan Johansen-Solt of Sweden. He is a 2000 graduate of Brockport High School.


Marine Corps Cpl. Gregory J. Baronas, a 1996 graduate of Churchville-Chili Senior High School, Churchville, is halfway through a six-month deployment to the Mediterranean Sea and Arabian Gulf in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Marines from Baronas' unit have conducted offensive raids against Taliban and Al-Qaeda forces in Afghanistan.

Additionally, Baronas' unit worked 18 days to complete humanitarian and civic projects in six different coastal areas of Kenya. They replaced a decrepit footbridge, built a two-classroom building for school children, created a water source for the Gongoni Maternity Wing in the District of Malindi and did some carpentry work on a school for the deaf in Kilifi.


Air Force Master Sgt. Anthony J. Palumbo has graduated from the U. S. Air Force Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy at Maxwell Air Force Base-Gunter Annex, Montgomery, Alabama.

Palumbo is a structural maintenance section chief, assigned to Robins Air Force Base, Warner Robins, Georgia. He has served 22 years. His parents are Ralph and Lena Palumbo of North Greece. The sergeant's wife, Cayatana, is the daughter of Larry and Barbara Hyman of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

In 1979, Palumbo graduated from Hilton High School and in 1991, received an associate degree from the Community College of the Air Force.
