Spencerport athlete wins scholarship

Justin Waas has been awarded a scholarship to play volleyball at Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pennsylvania.

He is a three-year varsity letter winner and starter for the Rangers. He led the team to a record 25-3, the Monroe County Division II Title, Section V Class A Championship and the finals of the New York State Regionals. Waas was named the Rangers MVP as well as the outstanding player of the Section V Tournament.

Waas competes for the Pace Bootlegger Junior Olympic Team and has trained the last two summers at USA Volleyball developmental camps. Last year, he played with current Mercyhurst player Dave Schmidl (Webster, NY) on Pace's team, which finished fifth in the open division at Nationals.

He attends Spencerport High School and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Waas.
