Candidates will speak at Churchville-Chili
candidate information night and budget hearing
District residents are encouraged to attend Candidate Information Night and Budget Hearing, Tuesday, May 7 at 7 p.m. in the Administrative Board Room, 139 Fairbanks Road. Candidates will speak about their views and will answer questions. In addition, there will be a presentation on the proposed budget.
The budget presentation will detail the district's proposed 2002-2003 budget of $50,964,764. The year-to-year proposed increase in expenditures is 3.99 percent. The proposed increase is largely due to accommodating the new physical plant coming into service, enrollment shifts and contractual labor agreements. Revenue projections are flat due to little or no increase in value assessments in the district, in county sales tax revenues because of the economic downturn, and in state aid.
Residents who want more information on the budget can call Assistant Superintendent for Administration Ralph Smith, 293-1800 ext. 2320, or Mary Alice Price, 293-1800 ext. 2300.
Additional budget presentations have also been scheduled as follows: May 1 - Chestnut Ridge Media Center, 7 p.m.; May 6 - Administrative Board Room, 3:15 p.m.; May 6 - Fairbanks Road School Cafeteria, 6:45 p.m.; May 9 - Junior High School Forum Room, 2:30 p.m.; May 9 - CESPA Meeting, Churchville Elementary Cafeteria, 7 p.m.; May 9 - Churchville Chamber of Commerce, noon. (Those interested in attending the Chamber of Commerce presentation, please call 293-1800, ext. 2300.)
The budget vote is Tuesday, May 21 from 1 to 9 p.m. in the Middle School gymnasium, 139 Fairbanks Road.
