Get Caught Reading in Spencerport
The Ogden Farmers' Library has a series of programs planned in celebration of May as "Get Caught Reading Month." Each day during the month there will be four lucky winners of a special reading-related gift. Winners will be chosen at random - library visitors may be there at the right time and go home a winner. Don't have a library card? Visit the library and get one and receive a free one year membership to the Friends of the Library group.
Storybook character Jesse Bear will visit library storytimes on Tuesday, May 14 at 10:15 a.m. and Thursday, May 16 at 10:15 a.m. and 7 p.m., where he will distribute coloring books. Jesse Bear will also visit area schools during the first three weeks of the month to help publicize the library's summer reading program.
On Sunday, May 19, the library will hold a "Read-In" from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Clyde Carter Gazebo in the village. Join library staff and trustees for an afternoon of reading and relaxing. Bring something to read and a lawn chair or blanket, and spend the afternoon reading and soaking up the sun along the Erie Canal. Make it a family outing and bring a picnic lunch. There will be reading-related door prizes and giveaways, and Jesse Bear will be available for pictures and hugs.
Call Patty Uttaro at 352-2141 for information on any of these events.
Residents are encouraged to Get Caught Reading.
