Star Party set for Northampton Park
Members of the Astronomy Section of the Rochester Academy of Science Astronomy Club invite people of all ages to the park to view the planets and deep sky objects through the members' telescopes. See galaxies, star clusters, and gaseous nebulae. Come early for views of the planets, stay late for best views of dim deep sky objects.
View Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, Venus and Mercury, as well as galaxies, gaseous nebulae, and star clusters with members of the local astronomy club. The five naked eye planets will all be in the western sky in a rare close grouping.
The Public Star Party will be Saturday, May 4 from 8:45 to 11 p.m. at Northampton Park (near the ski lodge) on Hubbell Road off Rt. 31 in Ogden. Held only if skies are clear. If cloudy, the group will try again on the cloud date, Sunday, May 5. This event is free. Contact Jim Seidewand, 723-6225, for information.
