Jack Zyra and a family friend, Bob Moriarty, were photographed in 2001 at the Stroll for Strong Kids. Their photo was recently chosen for the promotional material for this year's fundraiser for Strong Kids.

Stroll for Strong Kids
set for June 1
Promo features local child
Following his birth on May 12, 2000, Jack Henry Zyra spent the first week of his life in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Strong Memorial Hospital. He was born with several anomalies that required the expertise of the physicians and nurses at the hospital. So when his parents, Karen and Darren Zyra, learned of the Stroll for Strong Kids last spring they were eager to participate. They lined up friends and relatives to stroll and many more to donate to the cause. Jack's picture was taken with a family friend, Bob Moriarty, on the day of the festivities. It is this picture that was chosen to be in this year's promotional material for the Stroll.
This year the event is being held on Saturday, June 1 at Genesee Valley Park with registration and children's activities starting at 9 a.m. Jack and his parents have been invited to take part in the ribbon cutting ceremonies to begin the Stroll.
Jack and his parents reside on Hinkleyville Road in Spencerport. According to Jack's grandmother, Janet Weitz, Jack surprised the whole family by walking on his own recently. Though he has hip and knee problems, the two-year-old goes to day care and "he's a wonder to us all," she said.
Anyone who wishes to support their team as part of the Stroll can call 352-0267 and leave a message. Any support will be appreciated.
