Ballard Avenue Extension
accommodates four new village homes
Ballard Avenue in the village of Spencerport is being extended to accommodate four new houses built by Home Pride Builders. Home Pride purchased land at the end of Ballard Avenue from Citizens Communications.
Initially residents of Ballard Avenue were against the five homes that Home Pride planned to build on the existing road. At that time, problems such as shared driveways and loss of green space were cited as the reasons for not wanting the development of the land.
Deputy Mayor Ted Rauber said that the neighbors felt they had been heard to a point because of the extension of the road and the fact that one less house would be built. There will be no shared driveways. He said that the neighborhood residents would "be happier if nothing was done" to the area, but are OK with this plan.
Rauber says that the sewers are complete and over the next two weeks the road will be cut, stoned and a waterline installed. The road will end with a "hammerhead" and will still be a dead end street. By the second week in May, Home Pride will start the foundations for the houses. There are also plans to work on the restorations (of the road) earlier rather than later.
Rauber says "I expect more nitch development" to be made (in the area). The school system is great and people go where schools and quality of life are good."
