New playground equipment to be dedicated
The public is invited to attend the Town of Chili and Lions Club ribbon cutting ceremony for the new playground equipment in Memorial Park on Tuesday, May 14 at 6 p.m.
This new equipment, which was replaced in late fall of 2001, is a joint venture between the Town of Chili and the Chili Lions Club and is the third part of a five-year replacement program for playground equipment in all town parks. The playground equipment in Yolanda Park was also replaced in March of this year. Last year the equipment was replaced in Davis Park and, the previous year, in Hubbard Park, thanks to the Lions Club's generosity.
This is a major project, Chili Supervisor Steve Hendershott said, and he commends the club for their efforts. Each year the Lions Club raises $10,000 for this parks project. The town matches the amount dollar for dollar and installs the equipment. Next year the playground equipment in Ballantyne Park will be replaced and this will complete the project.
