Hilton School District Board of Education
adopts $46.2 million budget proposal
On April 26, the Hilton School District Board of Education voted to send to the voters a $46.2 million budget proposal for the 2002-03 school year. The budget represents an overall dollar-to-dollar increase of 1.14 percent over last year's budget, but tax rate estimates are projected to be about 6.59 percent across all four district towns: Parma, Greece, Clarkson and Hamlin.
"This has been the most difficult budget I have had to deal with in 16 years of association with Hilton budgets," said Assistant Superintendent for Business Steven Ayers.
The Budget Vote and Board Election will be held Tuesday, May 21, 2002. Four candidates will be on the ballot for three positions: incumbents Chris Cosgrove, Ted Welch and one-year appointee Aggie Seneway as well as challenger Lori Snyder. There are two three-year positions and one two-year position on the ballot (to complete the vacated seat of James Giordano.) The positions will be filled in the order of the greatest number of votes cast.
