Schweikert HR, 3 RBI leads Rangers

Kristina Schweikert went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and three runs batted in as Spencerport defeated Penfield 9-4 in high school varsity softball April 24.

The Rangers scored runs in five different innings as Candice Rockell and Meghan Gollaher each added a pair of RBI’s to the offensive attack. Danielle Powers went 4-for-4 with a run scored while Nicole Ricciuto scored twice for the home team.

Spencerport put the game out of reach with two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Megan Weinpress reached on an error and a Powers double sent her to third. Rockell followed with a clutch two-out double driving in both runners. The six run cushion took the pressure off in the seventh inning when Penfield scored one run and left the bases loaded when the final out was made.

Gollaher picked up with win allowing ten hits and three walks while striking out seven Chiefs. The Rangers improved to 8-2 overall, 2-0 in league play.
