School board candidates also on ballot

Churchville-Chili residents will vote May 21 on the school district's proposed budget. Voters will also choose three candidates for the C-C Board of Education and decide on a resolution that would authorize the purchase of four school buses. The vote is from 1 to 9 p.m. in the Middle School gym, 139 Fairbanks Road.

The proposed budget for the 2002-2003 school year is $50,964,764. This represents a 3.99 percent increase in expenditures. The majority of the proposed increase supports contractual agreements, enrollment shifts, increases in the cost of health insurance premiums for district employees and costs associated with bringing new transportation, technology, library and classroom space on line.

Three people are running for the three open seats on the Board of Education. Two candidates are incumbents, Thomas Smithgall and Ramon Ferris, and Kevin Naughton is seeking his first term.

Residents who want more information on the budget can call Superintendent Mary Alice Price, 293-1800, ext. 2300 or Assistant Superintendent for Administration Ralph Smith, 293-1800, ext. 2320. Residents may also call any board member or check the district's web site, www.cccsd.org.
