CHS to tour historic canal inn
On Sunday, May 19, 2002, the Chili Historical Society will host a tour of the Adams Basin Inn on Washington Street in Adams Basin.
The inn was constructed in 1823 on the north bank of the canal. The room used as a pub is original to the house. Run as a store and a post office until 1858, the inn was then sold to the Ryan family in 1890. In 1916 the family ceased running the inn and it was a family residence until the last of the Ryans died.
Bud Nichols, former owner, will speak on the history of the house and the many changes it has had. The new owner, Halya Sobkiw, has opened the bed and breakfast for members and their guests to tour.
Refreshments will be served.
