awards and officer installations
The Holley Fire Department held its annual awards banquet to acknowledge members giving outstanding service to the community. This year, Chief Jeffrey Lavender with First Assistant Chief Mark Porter and Second Assistant Chief Rick Cary awarded the Chief's Award to Harris Reed for outstanding service.
The Line Officer's Award is given to the member with the most fire calls logged. This past year Harris Reed and Jeffrey Benge tied by responding to 133 out of 207 fire calls. The Emergency Squad presented the Captain's Award to Barb Morlino for outstanding service and Ron Meiers was honored for responding to the most ambulance calls in 2001.
Service awards were bestowed to Bob Spychalski for 50 years of service, George Bower for 40 years of service, Jim Mignano and Steve Smith for 30 years of service each and David Knapp for 25 years of service.
Career firefighter and longtime friend of the department Larry Vaughn of Brockport was the Master of Ceremonies. Orleans County Sheriff Merle Fredericks and Village of Holley Mayor Daniel Schiavone recognized and thanked the members for their dedication and outstanding service to the community.
