Chili Post 1830 plans Memorial Day 2002 events
Members of American Legion, Chili Post 1830 and Veterans of Foreign Wars, along with other Veterans Organizations of Chili and Veterans throughout America will observe Memorial Day on Monday, May 27.
Memorial Day services sponsored by The American Legion, Chili Post 1830 to honor those who have served The United States of America and have now gone on to their "Post Everlasting," include the annual Memorial Day Parade which begins at 8:30 a.m. It proceeds from Grenell Drive, west on Chili Avenue to the Veterans Monument in front of The Chili Senior Center/Town Court Building.
Immediately following the parade, a brief Memorial Service will be held at The Veteran's Monument. All Chili residents are invited. The American Legion Rifle Squad will proceed to local cemeteries for tribute to comrades in Post Everlasting. At approximately 11:15 a.m. and upon return of the Rifle Squad, the Post Everlasting Memorial Service will be held at American Legion, Chili Post 1830.
The Memorial Day Family Picnic will begin at 1 p.m. in the Pavilion at Chili Post 1830, 450 Scottsville-Chili Road (Route 386). This is free to the community. All who have attended the Parade and/or Memorial Service are invited to attend. Children are welcome. There is no charge for attendance, food or beverage.
