Boy Scout Troop 292 holds Eagle Court of Honor
Boy Scout Troop 292 held a Court of Honor on May 2, to recognize Jeffrey S. Wumkes for earning the rank of Eagle. Wumkes was escorted on stage by Eagle Escorts Greg Tschorke and Jason DiCiaccio, after Jim Corke, assistant scoutmaster, described the climb along the trail to Eagle. John Norsen and Ron Wadkins, assistant scoutmasters and Bob Meyer, Troop 292 committee chairman, participated in the ceremony. His parents pinned on his Eagle Badge and presented his certificate.
To earn the rank of Eagle, a scout must earn 21 merit badges and complete an approved community service project. Wamkes' Eagle project was to extend the parking lot at Davis Park near the Chestnut Ridge Road entrance. He organized a group of scouts and adult to clear brush and small trees, then spread stone over the new parking area.
