Chili FD responds to apartment complex fire
On Friday, May 9, the Chili Fire Department responded for a reported fire in the Cedars of Chili Apartment complex. First on scene units reported fire venting from a second floor window.
An aggressive interior fire attack controlled the fire in less than ten minutes, confining the main body of fire to the room of origin with smoke and water damage to the rest of the two story apartment. One occupant received minor burns while attempting to extinguish the fire prior to the fire department's arrival and was transported to Strong Hospital. In all, four adults were displaced as a result of the fire and received housing assistance from the Red Cross. Preliminary investigation determined that a candle ignited combustible material, according to Deputy Chief Chris Fish.
