Hilton High School students develop leadership skills

Hilton High School student council members want to build more than school spirit in their school. They also want to build community. This year they attended several youth conferences including the Annual State Leadership Conference in Albany, "Just Lead It," and a Youth Leadership Conference at Nazareth College. The conferences build student leadership skills through motivational speakers, workshops, community service projects as well as networking with kids and advisors across the state. Students developed a presentation about what builds community at the High School and presented aspects of it to the Board of Education in early April. Next November students will attend the State Conference which will be held in Rochester. A portion of the expenses of the Albany Conference were funded by a $500 Exxon Mobil Foundation grant to the Classes of 2002 and 2003.
