Penny collection helps migrant workers
The junior high students of All Saints Catholic Academy have completed their annual Penny Collection to benefit LaEscuela de San Jose Migrant School, a school for children of migrant workers, collecting $2,368.31. Sr. Karlien, who organizes this annual event, recalls her favorite image this year as a student who walked in with his purple "Barney" bank and eagerly emptied it onto the floor. Pennies are already being collected for next year. Over the past three years, over one million pennies have been collected and rolled by the students.
