C-C to hold annual sports banquet

Churchville-Chili School District's Annual Sports Banquet to honor the school district's athletes and announce winners of several scholarships will be held June 3 at the Diplomat Banquet Center.

This year's guest speaker is Jim Beichner, head wrestling coach at the University at Buffalo. Since Beichner's arrival at UB he has turned the wrestling program around, going from a 6-56 record in the four seasons preceding his arrival to a 31-12-2 dual meet record in the four seasons immediately after. For his efforts, Beichner received the NYS Division I and ECWA Coach-of-the-Year awards in addition to Amateur Wrestling News Rookie Coach-of-the-Year honors in 1996.

Tickets to the sports banquet, which is subsidized by the Churchville-Chili Sports Booster Club, are $5 for students and $13 for adults. Tickets are available at the office of the district's athletic director in the Senior High School on Buffalo Road.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. on June 3, dinner at 6 p.m.
