Spencerport athletic awards banquet scheduled
The annual Spencerport Central School's Athletic Awards Banquet will be held Wednesday, June 5 in the Cosgrove Middle School.
The highlight of the evening will be the induction of Wendy Clontz-Kurtic and Donald "Chow" Wierzchowski into the Spencerport Athletic Hall of Fame. Clontz-Kurtic was an all county girl's volleyball and girl's basketball player. She graduated from RIT with a degree in industrial engineering while continuing with her volleyball and basketball career, earning numerous honors. She is a senior program manager with Xerox. Coach Chow was a beloved Spencerport teacher and coach who died May 1, 2002. He coached three sports a year for approximately 25 years as well as leading the Rangers Girl's Basketball team to a Monroe County Divisional title as well as three sectional semifinal appearances. Coach Chow was known for his calm, quiet demeanor while teaching both the love of the game and a desire to help others.
In addition, awards will be presented for Most Valuable and Most Improved Players, Outstanding Academic Student-Athletes, Most Outstanding Athlete, along with recognition of six career letter winners and three varsity letters earned in one year.
Tickets for the banquet may be purchased for $12.50 at the Spencerport Athletic Office in the Administration Building. All varsity letter winners must exchange their invitation for their tickets.
