Festa Italiana planned

Officials at the Italian American Community Center have unveiled plans for the first annual Festa Italian (Italian Festival) that will be held July 19-21 on the grounds of the Italian American Community Center in Gates. Planned by a committee of its members, this festival will closely resemble the traditional festivals found in Italy.

Organizers want to introduce Italian culture to the community, so they have planned an evening of light opera, an art show featuring 16th, 17th and 18th century art, an Italian automobile exhibition, cultural demonstrations including glass blowing, bronze sculpture, wood carving and wrought iron working and a variety of Italian foods, music, crafts and wine. The festival will have free admission.
