AREA

McNamara, Rev. Elmer A., June 3, 2002. Born in Montezuma, New York, he was ordained a priest at Vatican City, Rome in 1933. He was a professor of Theology at St. Bernard's Seminary. He served the parishes of St. Bridget's Church, Bloomfield and St. Mark's Church, Kendall. Survived by brother, Rev. Joseph McNamara, Syracuse; as well as many nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.

His Funeral Mass was said June 5 at the Sisters of Mercy Motherhouse Chapel. Interment, St. Bridget's Cemetery, East Bloomfield. Donations can be made to Sisters of Mercy in his memory.


BROCKPORT

Kirk, Carolyn K., age 67 of Brockport formerly of Rochester. Mother of Robin (James) Heizyk and Eric Kirk; sister of Janice Zyla; grandmother of Julie, Brian and Linda Heizyk; aunt of Anthony C. Zyla, Michelle Webber and Janet Zyla and their families.

A Funeral Service was held June 4 at the H.E. Turner Funeral Home, Bergen. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or Multiple Sclerosis Society in her memory.


CHURCHVILLE

Reid, Albert A., on June 1, 2002, age 96, of Churchville, formerly of Buffalo. Husband of the late Esther (nee Carlson) Reid; father of Ronald (Paula) Reid and the late Hilmer (Mildred) Reid. Predeceased by great-granddaughter, Hanna Reid; survived by six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Reid was a former fifty year employee at Worthington Pump.

Funeral Services were held June 4 at the Greco Funeral Home, Inc. Interment in Acacia Park Cemetery. Memorials can be sent to Hospice or the Alzheimers Association.


HILTON

Lankton, David "Honest Dave," on May 28, 2002 at age 75. David is survived by his children, Jason (Kristen) Lankton, Tracy Lankton.

A Memorial Service was held June 1 at the Thomas E. Burger Funeral Home, Inc., Hilton. Contributions can be made to a charity of choice in his memory.


Smith, Carmella (Sofia) "Dolly" "Carmie," Suddenly, May 29, 2002. She was predeceased by her husband, C. David Smith and her mother, Lucy Sofia. She is survived by her loving daughter and "friend" Mary Lou Smith; her father, Anthony Sofia; four brothers, Salvatore "Sonny," Christopher (Patricia), Anthony "Tony" (Connie) and Joseph (Marie) Sofia; sister-in-law, Nancy Smith; many nieces, nephews and cousins, 10 great nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass was said June 3 at St. Leo Church, Hilton. Interment Parma Union Cemetery. Those wishing can make contributions to Carmella Smith Fund, P.O. Box 745, Hilton 14468.


Wynings, John H. "Jack," May 30, 2002. Predeceased by parents, Jean and Thurston Lewis. He is survived by his wife, Janet A.; two sons, Jeffrey and Gregory; five daughters, Ann (Max) Kelly, Emma Snider, Cheryl Larabee, Barbara Larabee, Christine Wynings; one uncle Carl (Marie) Wynings; one brother, Keith Lewis; two sisters, Wanda Lewis and Wendy (Gregory) Carges; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A retiree of General Motors.

Funeral Services were held June 3 at Arndt Funeral Home. Interment Garland Cemetery.


HOLLEY

Charles, Edith A., Age 80, died May 30, 2002. She was a devout member of St. Mary's Church, Holley Italian Heritage Society, American Legion Auxiliary, and worked 46+ years as a beautician in the area. She will be remembered for her love of cooking, gardening, her vast knowledge of medicine, and as an unselfish friend to many people. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph "Pep" Charles and a brother, Patrick Gifaldi. She is survived by her son, Joseph (Lynn) Charles; her daughter, Leslie Charles; her brother, Chipper (Angeline) Gifaldi; sisters, Mary Mignano, Grace Cook, Josephine Schulte, Angeline Lusk, Sally Rytlewski; grandchildren, Christine, Steven, and Melissa Charles, brothers-in-law, Michael "Archie" Charles, Louis (Joyce) Charles; sister-in-law, Frances Gifaldi; a special friend, Teresa Carselli; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was said June 3 at St. Mary's Church. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorials can be made to St. John's Villa or the Humane Society at Lollypop Farm.


SPENCERPORT

Fischer, Shirley A., Friday, May 31, 2002. She was predeceased by her son, Danny T. Fischer. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Thomas W. Fischer; her daughter Cheryl (James) Wagner; four grandchildren, Crissy, Amy, Michael and Kelly; brother James (Barbara) Piersma; sisters, Dorothy Fuchs and Barbara (Anthony) Coppini; her sisters-in-law, Janet Fischer and Beatrice (Erwin) Ostertag; nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services were held June 3 at Walker Brothers Company Funeral Home Inc., Spencerport. Interment Fairfield Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the Spencerport Volunteer Ambulance in her memory.
