Churchville-Chili Superintendent
to take top post at Pittsford schools
Churchville-Chili Superintendent Mary Alice Price has been appointed the new superintendent of Pittsford Schools. The Pittsford Board of Education approved her appointment at a special board meeting Monday, June 3. Price will take over the leadership position on or before September 10.
Price has served as superintendent of schools for the Churchville-Chili Central School District since December 1996, where she has been instrumental in developing support for and managing a $31 million building project and a $50 million school budget. Prior to joining the Churchville-Chili school district, she was the assistant superintendent for instruction at West Irondequoit Central Schools where she also served as an elementary school principal. Price began her career in the Webster Central School District as a secondary English teacher.
"Mary Alice Price has been a great superintendent to work with," says Churchville-Chili Board President Sheryl Johnson. "We would have liked her to stay, but we congratulate her on the opportunity to go to a district like Pittsford. It'll be a great loss for us."
"I am very excited about the opportunity to serve in the Pittsford Central School District," said Mary Alice Price. "But I will miss Churchville-Chili. This is a wonderful community with good students, and dedicated and talented staff and board members. It is hard to leave."
Johnson says the school board will begin discussions on next steps at the June 11 board meeting. "We want to make sure we do what is best for the district," she says. "We want to find a superintendent who is a good fit for our district and who can continue the progress we have made with Superintendent Price."
