Special Olympian is super fundraiser
Working hard to raise funds for Monroe County Special Olympics, Brian Gundy, of Spencerport, a Special Olympian himself, was the number one fundraiser for the seventh consecutive year in Spike's Hike 2002 held May 25. His $2,220 total not only reflects the year in which it was raised - 2002 - but also raises Gundy's total to $11,000 over seven years.
Brian competes in nine sports, including his newest, Special Ice Hockey. He's a member of the Rochester Ice Cats of the Special Hockey International's Hearts League, founded in 1999.
In his 12th year of participating in Special Olympics' local sectionals, state teams and individual competitions, Brian has received over 150 medals, ribbons and at the Special Olympics Summer Games held the weekend of June 1, he had the honor of carrying the torch for the ceremonies.
Brian and his father, Al Gundy, thank all volunteers for the Special Olympics events and the supporters of Spike's Hike.
