Orleans County to look at auxiliary police

The Orleans County Auxiliary police unit and their role in the county will be discussed at a June 26 legislature meeting.

The Auxiliary was formed in 1952 and presently has 24 active members, Paul Wagner, Director of Orleans County Emergency Management office said. "We're going to be looking at the responsibilities and capabilities of the force," he said.

Wagner said there are differing views in the county as to the role the auxiliary should play as a law enforcement unit.
