July Theme Days planned at Springdale Farm
A series of children's programs, "July Theme Days," will be held at Springdale Farm, 696 Colby Street in Ogden on July 10, 17, 24 and 31 (all Wednesdays) from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. On each Wednesday, presenters will hold an interactive program with an educational theme for youth ages 5-10. The cost is $5 per person for each, or $15 for all four sessions. All participants must be pre-registered by July 5 and an adult escort is required. July Theme Days will include the following themes and activities:
July 10: Green Growing Things - Understand how a greenhouse works and the joy of gardening. Activity: Sensory exercises and homemade Petunia-the-Pig planter.
July 17: Nature Exploration - Investigate the animals and plants of the forest and field and how they interact with each other. Activity: Forest hike and nature watch.
July 24: Aquaculture - Discover the fascinating critters that live in, on and around a pond. Activity: Netting, scooping and examination.
July 31: Barnyard Animals - Explore the lives of farm animals and their daily routines. Activity: Feed the animals, brush miniature horses and much more.
July Theme Days registrants are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy after each program. Also, participants may enjoy a 20-minute hay wagon ride at noon for free and pet Springdale's many friendly barnyard animals including Peanut, the miniature horse. As always, the playground, picnic pavilion and forest trails will be open to the public.
