Summer programs offered at the Ogden Farmers' Library
Registration begins for the children's summer reading game at the Ogden Farmers' Library on July 8. It's a wet and wild summer for children in grades K-6. Auto check-in will be held anytime the library is open. Personal check-in is available Monday, Wednesday and Friday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Thursday 7 to 8 p.m.
Grades 6 and up are invited to join the summer young adult reading competition, beginning June 24 through August 2, as they compete against the young adults at the Seymour Library and the Hamlin Library. The library with the most reading hours will receive a pizza party on August 9. There will be weekly prizes as well as big prizes for the top readers. Pick up a form in the young adult section of the library.
A library Luau will be held Friday, August 16, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. All participants of the children's reading program and the young adult reading program are invited to this tropical finale with games and food.
Children's story hours will be held at the village gazebo every Tuesday 11 to 11:45 a.m., July 9 through August 27. The story hour is open to all ages. There will be book giveaways every week.
Chess Club is held every Thursday from July 11-August 15 for grades four and up. There will be chances for beginners, intermediate and advanced players to compete. Participants may wish to bring a chess board.
The summer programs, which also begin July 8, are free but registration is required and begins two weeks prior to each event. Call the library at 352-2141 for information or to register for any of the following programs:
Bart & Kevin's Rock & Roll Reading - Monday, July 8, 1-2 p.m. Join Bart Dentino and Kevin Huber, well known music performers, for a high energy, entertaining concert for kids.
Skateboard Demonstration - Tuesday, July 9 at the Ogden Recreation Gym. Join Aaron Costa from Krudco Skate Shop as he discusses the history of skateboarding and how he got started. He will finish up with a skateboard demonstration. This program is open to all ages.
Tie-Dye - Tuesday, July 16 beginning at 11 a.m. Join our T-shirt extravaganza. Bring a plan white shirt to dye. This program is open to all ages.
Candle Making - Tuesday, July 23 at 11 a.m. Learn to make candles with "treasures" in them. This program is open to grades 6-12.
Families are invited to join us for family Bingo night on Thursday, July 25, 7-8:30 p.m. There will be popcorn for all and prizes for the winners.
Make Your Own Ice Cream - Monday, July 29, 11 a.m. to noon. Learn to make ice cream using coffee cans. Open to children in grades 1 through 4.
Irish Dance - Tuesday, July 30 at 11 a.m. Learn the basic steps of Irish Dance with Maggie Fitzgibbon. Grades 5 and up.
Just Clowning Around Comedy and Magic Show - Monday, August 5, 1 to 2 p.m. Summer magic comes to the library.
Decorative Picture Frames - Tuesday, August 6 at 11 a.m. Learn how to create picture frames to keep or give away as gifts. Grades 6 and up.
