Coupon booklet an invitation to visit three-county area
In addition to the splendor of Niagara Falls, the Greater Niagara Region is home to a host of popular tourist attractions, and the Genesee, Orleans, and Wyoming Counties Tourism Promotion Agencies (TPAs) have teamed up once again to entice visitors into the three county area.
The TPAs refer to the area as "The Country Byways of the Greater Niagara Region" when participating in three-county promotions. Visitors to the region can take advantage of savings offered in the Country Byways Visitor Coupon and Driving Tours Booklet, which was made available to travelers this spring. Each county has its own coupon and driving tours section and their annual events are located on the last three pages of the booklet. Maps assist travelers in locating the great attractions and coupon participants. Over 90 coupons offer discounts on accommodations, attractions, food and dining, and shopping. There was no charge to businesses to participate in the booklet, which are also free to visitors.
Kelly Rapone, Tourism Marketing/Communications Specialist at the Chamber, said that 15,000 booklets have been printed this year, a tripling from last year. Key distribution points include area accommodations, Visitor Information Centers and AAA & CAA offices throughout Canada, New York state and the surrounding areas. "The Travel Industry of America (TIA) reports that 67 percent of travelers will visit a small town or rural area this year. We want to be that rural area, and are aggressively pursuing travelers by offering more value to an already affordable family vacation spot," Rapone said.
Area businesses can participate in the promotional opportunities that are available by contacting their county's tourism promotion agency. In Genesee County, call 343-7440, in Orleans County call 589-7004, and in Wyoming County call 493-3190.
