Noone Post 954 hosts Boys State Orientation Dinner
On Sunday evening June 23, Harvey C. Noone Post 954 sponsored an orientation dinner at their Post Home for the 32 Boy State representatives from all the Posts in Monroe County and their parents. The objective of the program was to prepare the involved families of the agenda of the five day program from the date they leave, June 26, to the date they return, July 3, including contact information and expectations.
Boys State includes a defining of responsibilities and functions of how government should operate by setting up a mock government through elections, making of bills, setting budgets, negotiations and respecting others and their opinions. All costs associated with this program are provided by the sponsoring Posts.
The Noone Post is sponsoring three candidates this year from the CCCS District. In addition, three other candidates interviewed by Noone from CCCS were selected by Law Enforcement 1182, Smith Warren 362 and Chili 1830. Therefore, the Churchville-Chili Central School District has six juniors attending the educational program. Post representatives believe this to be more participants from one district than any other district in the state.
Noone Post and its Auxiliary Unit prepared and served a roast beef dinner to the candidates, their parents and sponsors.
