Hilton's Hargather Co-Coach of the Year
Hilton head softball coach Amy Hargather was named Co-Coach of the Year in Monroe County Division I along with Websters Colleen Kelly. She led the Cadets to an 11-11 record during the 2002 season in her first year as a head coach after graduating in December from SUNY Brockport.
A 1997 graduate from Churchville-Chili and a former player under Saints Coach of the Year M.P. Dewey, Hargather helped the team rebound from a 1-7 start to the season to finish at .500.
"The five seniors played a big part in turning the season around," said Hargather. "We had a rough schedule to start the year playing Irondequoit and Spencerport and some other strong teams, but they worked hard and learned from their mistakes."
The Cadets lost to Webster in the second round of the sectional tournament. Also, Heather Zapf was named to the Division I All-Star team.
