Scholarships awarded by Chili church

During the June 23 worship service at the First Presbyterian Church of Chili, Melinda Fatz, Shelly Kasiske, and Kelly Schmidt were recognized as this year's recipients of the John and Eda Reinhardt scholarships.

The scholarship fund was established in 1992 by Eda Reinhardt. The $1,000 scholarships are available to qualifying young men and women who are part of the church family. Selection is "based primarily on academic performance in high school with consideration also given to contributions in extracurricular school activity, community service and church involvement." Through 2002, nineteen scholarships have been awarded.

Kelly Schmidt, who will attend SUNY Brockport in the fall, and Shelly Kasiske, who will attend Virginia Tech, both graduated from Churchville-Chili Central School. Melinda Fatz attended Caledonia Mumford Central School and will be attending SUNY Geneseo this fall.
