St. Andrews Apartments in Gates project receives funds
Providence Housing Development Corporation announced that the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York has awarded $53,822 toward the development of St. Andrews Apartments, housing for physically challenged and developmentally disabled adults. The award is made through HSBC Bank USA from privately funded Affordable Housing Program of the Federal Home Loan Bank.
Providence, a not-for-profit corporation affiliated with Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Rochester, proposes to build St. Andrews Apartments, 12 one- and two-bedroom affordable apartments, on the 23-acre campus of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rochester in the Town of Gates. All of the units will be handicapped accessible. The apartments will serve very low-income households. The project has been granted 12 project-based Section 8 certificates from the Rochester Housing Authority. Catholic Charities Community Services has agreed to serve as the project's primary service provider.
The FHLB AHP funds will finance construction costs. The County of Monroe has also committed $100,000 to the project. Additional funds are being sought from the New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal.
