Youth programs offered in August
Hamlin Recreation is offering several programs in August for anyone age 8 to adult. A bus trip to a Red Wing baseball game will take place on August 1. Ticket and transportation to the 11:05 a.m. game is $7.50 and a lunch special is available. On August 7, a trip to Minnehan's Fun Center will leave the Town Hall at 11 a.m. and return at 3:30 p.m. Minnehan's offers unlimited use of miniature golf, batting cages, go-karts and mini zone. Admission and transportation is $13. A lunch special is also available. Deadline to register for these trips is one week prior to each trip.
Canoe excursions for ages 11 to adult are offered on Tuesdays, July 30 through August 27 at various launch sites around the area. Participants must be able to swim. Launch sites include Erie Canal at Holley, Oak Orchard, Wide Waters (Adams Basin), Salmon Creek and Braddock Bay. Each trip is $12 and includes lunch.
Golf Camp for teens 11-18 will take place Tuesday and Thursday evenings, August 13-29 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hamlin Town Hall. Putting, chipping and use of driving range at Deerfield Country Club will be offered on Saturdays and is included in the $20 fee. Bring clubs and golf balls. Participants should register by August 9 in the Hamlin Recreation Office.
