Session updates public on Tributary 3 cleanup
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), the New York State Department of Health (DOH) and the Monroe County Health Department will hold a public availability session for the former General Electric/Black & Decker and the former 3M/Dynacolor sites in Brockport. The session is Thursday, August 1 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Seymour Public Library, 161 East Avenue, Brockport. Those who attend can review information about the cleanup plans and results from recent off-site sampling.
DEC, DOH and Monroe County Health Department officials will be available to answer questions. Representatives from General Electric and 3M will also be available to answer questions. There will be no formal presentation.
This session is a follow-up to the public meeting held on May 29. The responsiveness summary for the May 29 meeting is available at the information desk in the Seymour Public Library. The work described at the May 29 meeting is tentatively scheduled to begin in mid-August. Additional details regarding the cleanup and its schedule will be available during the availability session.
The purpose of the August 1 session is to provide a final opportunity to view information about the proposed off-site cleanup plans and to ask any remaining questions regarding the proposed cleanup plans. The proposal includes cleanup of a portion of Tributary 3 to Brockport Creek as well as portions of the storm sewer system connected to the Tributary. These cleanup plans are available for review at the Seymour Public Library (behind the information desk), the Brockport Village office, and at the NYSDEC Region 8 Office located in Avon.
