The musical "Crazy for You" to be
presented by Westside Theatre Productions
The musical "Crazy for You" featuring the music of George and Ira Gershwin will be presented free of charge by Westside Theatre Productions in conjunction with the Town of Riga Recreation Department. Musical numbers include such songs as "I Got Rhythm," "Someone to Watch Over me," "Embraceable You," "They Can't Take That Away From Me," and "Bidin' My Time." This summer musical theater camp is under the direction of Kelly Walsh and is open to students entering ninth grade and older.
"Gershwins's "Crazy for You" is the most challenging show we have put together in our seven years running. Talents from eleven different school districts have risen to the occasion and are performing fabulously," says Walsh.
Eric Deiboldt of Albion is doing his second show with the camp and performs the leading role of Bobby Child, a banker sent west from New York City to foreclose on a theater. "This cast for "Crazy for You" is extremely hardworking and that's what makes it so much fun," says Eric. "It's a long drive to daily rehearsals in Chili, but I love the fast paced rehearsals and all the great stuff we are learning, not to mention the friends that I have made."
Polly Baker, the female lead, is the feisty postmistress of Deadrock. This role is played by Lani Toyama of Churchville who is in her fifth production with the camp. "I've made so many friends doing these summer shows. We try to go to each other's performances during the school year," she says. Lani feels the camp, "gives me more experience being on stage, whether a chorus part or a lead. It's fun either way."
Jessica Scuteri of Greece performs as Irene, Joel Casilio of Irondequoit as Lank, Will Gallacher of Brockport as Zangler, Andrea Carrozziere of Gates as Tess, Marina Mellas of Brockport as Patsy, and Bill Rowe of Churchville as Everett, Polly's father. Other cast members include: Christina Dudek, Brandon Borgus, Katie Ciaccia, Jessie Lehman, Sean O'Donnell, A.J. Simms, Kevin Laley, Katie Guy and Carrie Guy of Churchville, Lauryn Walsh and Rachel Walsh of Caledonia, Helena Drake of Penfield, Pete Giordano, Rachael Gerhardt, Rachel Carrozzieri, Maria Giordano, Andrea Colasato and Rachel Millitelo of Gates, Gretchen Breslawski and Amanda Pelcher of Brockport, Ellis Walsh of Webster, Colleen Boag of Brighton, Kaley Eckston and Mike Ciaccia of Spencerport, Nora Sanchez of Rochester.
