The 5th Annual Macworld Conference & Expo Digital Art Gallery at Jacob Javitz Convention Center in New York City, July 16-19 included work by Peter J. Sucy of Hamlin.

An independent panel of judges from the digital art community chose 32 images from the over 900 images that were entered.

All finalists received prizes that were distributed among the artists that included hardware, software, computer graphic magazines and books.

"I am really pleased," said Sucy. "It is an honor to have my artwork seen by so many people at Macworld and across the U.S."


Brandon Steinorth, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rob Steinorth, Hilton, has been named to the spring 2002 dean's list at Ithaca College.

A junior, he is a secondary history education major. Dean's list is earned by receiving a 3.5 GPA or higher. Steinorth received a 3.88. He is a 1999 graduate of Hilton High School.


The following area residents have been named to the dean's list at Providence College for the spring 2002 semester.

Bridget Timpano, of Stover Road, Rochester, a member of the class of 2004.

Luke Mazzochetti, of Pinewood Knoll, Rochester, a member of the class of 2005.


Holley Central School graduate Justin Penna received the American Legion Award given by Holley American Legion Post 529.

Penna is the son of Terry and Nick Penna of Holley. He works on the Penna family farm with his father and will be attending college in the fall.


Heather Short, a 1997 graduate of Brockport High School, received her master's degree in special education and reading from St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia. She graduated cum laude.

Brian Unterborn, son of Randy and Helen Unterborn of Kendall has been named to the spring 2002 dean's list at St. John Fisher College in Rochester. Unterborn, a freshman, is a sociology major.

To be eligible for the dean's list at St. John Fisher College, a student must have attained at least a 3.3 grade-point average for the semester.


Katie Armstrong of Hamlin has been selected for the 2002 North Eastern Athletic Conference All-Academic Team. The NEAC recognizes student-athletes from member institutions who participated in sports and achieved a grade point average of 3.3 or higher during the past academic year.

Armstrong plays women's soccer and is a physical therapy major.


Adrienne Marie Smith of Spencerport and David Donald Kent of Spencerport were named to the dean's honor list at Gettysburg College for the spring 2002 semester.

Students with a quality point average of 3.60 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) for a semester's work are placed on the dean's honor list. Students with a quality point average of 3.33 or higher for a semester's work are placed on the dean's commendation list.


The following students graduated in May 2002 from Binghamton University.

Jill M. Lowell, of Holley, graduated with a bachelor of arts degree.

Megan E. Kincaid, of Spencerport, graduated with a bachelor of arts degree.

Ian P. Muir, of Spencerport, graduated with a bachelor of arts degree.


The following students were named to the dean's list for the spring 2002 semester at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Stephen R. DeBellis, a senior, of Brewerton Drive, Rochester, a computer science major.

Allyn B. Hill, a senior, of Stony Point Road, Spencerport, a computer science major.

Jordan D. Moskal, a senior, of Southwind Way, Rochester, an information technology major.

Vi H. Nguyen, a junior, of Lansmere Way, Rochester, a computer and systems engineering major.

Eric J. Russell, a senior, of Canal Road, Spencerport, an aeronautical engineering major.

Matthew D. Siciliano, a sophomore, of Apple Hollow Lane, Hamlin, an undeclared engineering major.

Edward W. Vossler, a junior, of Sesqui Drive, Rochester, a mechanical engineering major.

Daniel J. Yanklowski, a sophomore, of Hillary Drive, Rochester, an undeclared engineering major.

The dean's list recognizes full-time students who maintain grade-point averages of a minimum of 3.0 out of a possible 4.0 and have no grades below C.


Marc F. Filotas, son of Frank and Joanne Filotas, Larkwood Drive, Greece, has been named to the spring 2002 dean's list at St. John Fisher College in Rochester. Filotas, who will be a senior, is a business management major and a graduate of Spencerport High School.


Pete Horvath, a resident of Rochester, has been inducted into the Providence College chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, the international honor society in history. Horvath is a member of the class of 2002 at Providence College, majoring in history/math.


Marine Corps Cpl. Mark J. Davis, whose wife, Tricia, is the daughter of Kathy and Joe E. MacConnell of Edgewood Lane, Bergen, recently was promoted to his currant rank while serving with Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, Marine Corps Air Station New River, Jacksonville, North Carolina.

Davis was promoted based on sustained superior job performance and proficiency in his designated specialty.


Marine Corps Sgt. Michael A. Voegel, son of Katie M. Voegel of Teaberry Drive, Spencerport, recently completed two months of training exercises and humanitarian missions in the East African nation of Djibouti while assigned to the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, based in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

Voegel is one of more than 10,000 Atlantic Fleet sailors and Marines aboard the ships of the USS John F. Kennedy Carrier Battle Group and USS Wasp Amphibious Ready Group currently on a six-month deployment to the Mediterranean Sea and Arabian Gulf.

Voegel's unit is an expeditionary intervention force with the ability to rapidly organize for combat operations in virtually any environment. MEUs are composed of more than 2,000 personnel and are divided into an infantry battalion, aircraft squadron, support group and command element. With this combination, Voegel's unit supplies and sustains itself for either quick mission accomplishment or clearing the way for follow-on forces.


Air Force Senior Airman Adam J. Mufford has graduated from Airman Leadership School at Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany.

Mufford is a nuclear weapons technician with the 52nd Munitions Support Squadron, Kleine Brogel Air Base, Belgium. He has served in the military for six years. He is the son of Elaine Clute of Allis Road, Albion, and Gary E. Mufford of Holley.
