Senior Day planned at Monroe County Fair
Senior Day at the 2002 Monroe County Fair has this year been teamed with Kids' Day giving senior grandparents an opportunity to bring their grandchildren to the fair at the reduced cost. This special event is scheduled for Wednesday, July 31 at the Fairgrounds in Henrietta. Seniors, ages 60 and up, will have free gate admission between noon and 4 p.m. with kids 12 and under having free gate admission all week. A special discounted, unlimited ride wristband will be available between noon and 4 p.m. on that day.
Special free activities on Senior Day include senior Bingo For Fun, senior health screenings and a Civil War lingerie fashion show as well as the Sword and Scarab Belly Dancers who will perform on the Heritage Stage which is located inside the air-conditioned Dome. WXXI will provide interactive activities for kids and families on that day, also in the Dome in the newly redesigned Heritage Village area. Other events are the Star Family Circus and the Puppetone Rockers, a high energy muppet-like music show, and a Civil War encampment. In the evening, Uncle Plum will perform a free concert on the Wegman's Music City Stage.
This year, the Fair Association is making pre-ordered box lunches available to seniors on Senior Day. Lunches are $7 per person. Order by calling the Fair Office at 334-4000 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays.
