Gus Macker 3 on 3 Tournament On the weekend of July 27 and 28, four Hilton boys aged 12 made their annual trip to Hornell to play in the Gus Macker 3 on 3 double tournament that draws some 400 teams at various boys, girls, men's and women's age groups. After sweeping through preliminary rounds and staying in the winners bracket, the boys lost the first game of the finals in a rain shortened game 10-7. Refocusing, they played the same Hornell team again, this time winning 15-7 to win the 12 year old division. Overall the boys were 4-1, outscoring opponents 67-25. Led by the outside shooting of Bret Clark and Mike Fowler, and the inside tenacity of Shane Galatio and Eric Kukura, the boys have won two titles in the past three years. |
