Tim Milgate Golf Tournament
to benefit Golisano Children's Hospital
More than 150 golfers will take part in next week's third annual Tim Milgate Golf Tournament. They will gather to raise funds for Golisano Children's Hospital at Strong, and keep alive the memory of a man who family members say loved children.
The tournament starts at 11 a.m. Monday, August 12, at Caledonia Country Club, 303 Park Place, Caledonia. The event is named in honor of Tim Milgate, who was murdered in his Greece home on June 27, 1995. No one has been arrested for the crime and the investigation continues. His family, which maintains a web site about Tim at http://spinningwebs.com/milgate, is offering a $10,000 reward for information.
During its first year, the tournament had 112 golfers. Last year, 140 people participated. "It's been such a phenomenal success," says Debbie Moyer, Tim Milgate's sister and organizer of the event. "It's really overwhelming." Major contributors to this year's tournament include Doan Family of Dealerships and Laidlaw Education Services.
Organizers are donating proceeds from this year's tournament to Golisano Children's Hospital - the Rochester region's only children's hospital - for the second consecutive year. "The children's hospital is very close to our heart," Moyer says. "Tim loved kids. Touching the lives of children, that's what it's all about."
If you have any information about the murder of Tim Milgate, call Sgt. Patrick Phalen, of the Greece Police Department at 585-581-4013.
