NYS DEC Hunter Safety course scheduled
Instructors certified by the Department of Environmental Conservation will conduct a Hunter Safety Program September 3, 4 and 7 at Northstar Sportsman's Club. Those interested in attending may register in-person at the Clerk's Office, Town of Parma, 1300 Hilton Parma Corners Road, Hilton from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The free course is required for first-time hunters who wish to obtain a hunting license. Safe firearms handling combined with responsible, ethical hunter conduct and prudent hunting skills will be covered. Pre-course work is required and space is limited, therefore, it is recommended to register early.
Students must be a resident of NYS and be 12 or older as of September 3. A parent or legal guardian must accompany and register students 16 years of age and younger. Registration is handled on a first-come, first-served basis.
