Monroe County to mark Sept. 11
Monroe County will hold an official commemoration to remember those lost in the September 11 attacks, honor emergency services personnel who responded heroically to the events, and recognize the American military personnel now fighting the war on terrorism. The public is invited to attend the commemoration, which will be held on the steps of the Monroe County Office Building at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 11.
As part of the commemoration, Monroe County Executive Jack Doyle asked that local churches ring their bells for five minutes at 8:46 a.m. (the time the first airplane crashed into the World Trade Center) and again at 10:28 a.m. (when the last remaining tower collapsed).
