C-C bus driver places in state competition
Churchville-Chili bus driver Gene Ehrmentraut competed in the New York State Area Pupil Transportation Competition held in Albany on July 13. Ehrmentraut placed third in the School Bus Rodeo competing against 41 other drivers from throughout the state. The one-day event included written exams, pre-trip inspections and a drive through an obstacle course. At the awards ceremony, Ehrmentraut was presented with a trophy and a plaque, which will be displayed at the new school district transportation facility.
Earlier this year, Ehrmentraut competed in the Rochester Area School Bus Safety Competition. He took second place for the School Bus Rodeo in the large bus category, which qualified him to enter the New York State competition. Other Churchville-Chili school bus drivers also competed in this Rochester event. Eugene Clendenning was awarded third place in the large bus category. Clendenning also competed in the Albany event. Mary Steedman competed in the Bus Driver rodeo for the first time, placing sixth out of 45 bus drivers in the large bus category.
Ehrmentraut has been employed as a bus driver for Churchville-Chili Central School District since 1994. He resides in Churchville with his wife, Margaret.
