Ceremony establishes new fire district

A ceremony establishing the Spencerport Fire District will be held September 3 at 6:30 p.m. at the Clyde Carter Gazebo in Spencerport.

Earlier this year, the towns of Ogden and Parma and Spencerport village leaders agreed to consolidate fire service responsibilities between the Ogden-Parma Fire District and the Village of Spencerport.

Formerly, the Spencerport Village Board was responsible for providing fire and rescue services within the village limits and the Ogden-Parma Fire District was responsible for an area that includes the Town of Ogden and portion of the Town of Parma.

The new fire district combined the Ogden-Parma Fire District and the Village of Spencerport Fire Department. The assets of both organizations were transferred to the new fire district. The Spencerport Volunteer Firemen's Association continues to provide manpower to the new, consolidated fire district.
