Volunteers needed to write for the blind
Volunteers are needed to provide Braille transcription for the blind in the Spencerport area. Volunteers transcribe textbooks, novels, cookbooks, menus, and similar items.
Training is provided which includes one daytime class per week and approximately one to two hours of homework and practice daily.
Classes are from September through April, and will lead to certification by the Library of Congress.
The certified Braillist works at home and sets her/his own work schedule. Support continues to be provided by the Braille service group as needed.
Classes begin 9 a.m., Thursday, September 12.
