Premier Cheer's first open house September 1
Premier Cheer, Inc., a new gym and facility for cheerleading, will host an open house on Sunday, September 1, from 1 to 4 p.m. at their 1150 University Avenue, Building 5, location in Rochester. The open house will allow parents and children to tour the new 10,000 square-foot state-of-the-art center, talk with the owners and NCA-certified cheerleading coaches, and win Premier Cheer T-shirts, water bottles and other prizes. There will also be a drawing for a free six-month membership. Food and refreshments will be served throughout the afternoon.
Premier Cheer, co-owned by Julie Richards and Debbie Bonzo, both of Fairport, is the only area gym primarily focusing on cheerleading.
The gym is scheduled to open and initiate classes for children 5 to 18 in early September. Classes will include Cheer Tumbling, Cheerleading, and Stunting, with various levels of instruction, based on the student's age and experience. Summer, holiday, and school break cheer camps will be held, and competitive All-Star squads are being formed.
With over 3,000,000 children participating today, cheerleading is one of the fastest-growing sports in America, yet many students who wish to participate on school squads are unable to do so because of the high level of interest and stiff competition. "We're starting Premier Cheer to give everyone who wants to take part the chance to cheer their best," notes co-owner Debbie Bonzo. "Now any child or teenager can learn from skilled coaches, experience a supportive atmosphere and grow in ability and self esteem."
